The Barnacle State Historic Site contains the oldest home in Dade County in it’s original location. The home of Ralph Middleton Monroe, one of Coconut Grove’s most influential pioneers. A visit here provides you with a glimpse into the rich past of the Era of the Bay. The Barnacle is one of the best preserved historic sites you’ll ever find. Commodore Monroe’s home reflects the image of a simpler time in South Florida’s past.
